Spanish illustrator, painter and graphic designer Aleix has, according to his own words, been drawing since he was a baby. During his professional career Aleix has created cover art for publishers, drawn books for children and teenagers and worked for newspapers, advertising agencies and multinational corporations. Recently he has been focusing on painting, illustration work, mural painting, street art, graphic design and his own licensing brand.

Hostau’s painting depicts Väinämöinen as a young man in the snowy forest. The piece refers to Gallen-Kallela’s famous painting “The Defence of the Sampo”, to the style of Russian illustrator Ivan Bilibin and to traditional Finnish tapestry art.
